Fire Services

Clearwater County provides fire protection through its three rural fire departments, which are located in the Hamlets of Condor, Leslieville and Nordegg. Clearwater County through agreements with the Town of Rocky Mountain House and the Village of Caroline also contracts fire protection for County residents close to the Town and Village. Approximately 120 volunteer firefighters support the fire services offered within the County.

Clearwater County, in partnership with the Town of Rocky Mountain House and the Village of Caroline, employs a full-time Regional Fire Chief. The Regional Chief provides investigative and inspection services as well as training services and organizational support to the various local fire departments.

Ambulance Services

The County operates one ambulance service in the Hamlet of Nordegg and contracts ambulance services in Rocky Mountain House, Caroline, Sundre, Eckville and Rimbey for the provision of Basic Life Support or Advanced Life Support services from these various ambulance operators.

Community Peace Officers

Clearwater County is staffed by two full-time, community-conscious Community Peace Officers. Their mandate is to enforce provisions of selected Provincial statutes as well as County Bylaws with the officers’ prime focus being road protection and traffic safety.

The RCMP is the police service for Clearwater County with detachments located in Rocky Mountain House, Sundre and Rimbey. The RCMP are responsible for the enforcement of federal, provincial and municipal law, including accident investigations and Criminal Code enforcement
